Got an opinion about that new game you just picked up, or perhaps along-time favourite? We all want to hear it!

Space Hulk 3rd Edition *Unboxing*

So to get this point across right from the start, this is just about the unboxing of the game, and what you can expect. So I picked up the new Space Hulk today and thought as Imagine still had one left, I might as well tell potential Hulkateers what to expect.

The Initial Purchase.....
Well I had put one on hold so getting one wasn't really an issue, but they are getting harder and harder to find so the sooner you buy it, the better. I think its somewhere close to $133.22 after taxes, (I'm doing this in my head, gimme a break!) making a hefty buy, and hefty it is. Upon holding the box for the first time, I was surprised by the weight. (Based on previous GW buys, ie. Black Reach) The contents are well worth it though. Almost worth sacrificing hot meals for. Hmmm come to think of it.... What do you think would be said if a dead body was found, starved and shriveled, but still clutching it's Space Hulk box?

The Epic Unboxing.....
Okay so after buying it, I rushed home to open it. On the art-front the cover work is impressive but the REAL stuff is inside the box. My favorite picture was the 'stealer on the cover of the rulebook. Cudos to the GW art fellows. Now, onto the game components. If I recall correctly, GW said "the dice looked like bone" and I assure you, they do not. They look like tasty caramels. That was one of the few flaws it actually had. The miniatures were sculpted amazingly, (provided you can live with some falling over easily, being very fragile, and not entirely fitting in the squares) and it looks like they'd paint up nicely too. The board pieces. OOOH the board pieces. The best I've seen in my entire gaminghood. Thick, durable cardbord, great designs, and best of all, they've cut some texture into the boards! They're stunning. The only major problems are that A) The contents will not fit in the box. It would seem that GW figured out the secrets to awesome product, as well as clown-cars. B) Unless you line a portion of the box (taking up more precious room) with foam, those oh-so-nice minis ain't gonna last. Its almost required to add some kind of additional protection.

Overall...
Worth the buy, and the extra work to add miniature protection. I'll hopefully be posting another review for the game play. Well, thanks for reading, fellow/potential Hulkateers.

I've got to voice my big gripe with the game: I've only had it for a couple of months, but last time I opened the box, I noticed all of the board tiles have become warped! They used to be perfectly flat, now they all have a significant curve to them.

I expected better from such an expensive game, I mean, come on, it's not like I dipped them in water or something! Anyone else have this problem?

I can't say I've had that issue with this game, but I definitely know the feeling. After I bought FFG's Doom:The Board Game, I opened it up for the first time to find the bases on the miniatures warped so badly some of them couldn't stand on their own! I later found a solution, but still very inconvenient.

Weird... I bought my copy when the game first came out and haven't had any problems with the boards warping. How do you store your game?
